Processos identitários, representações sociais e migrações: reflexões sobre a identidade latino-americana

Abstract

Neste artigo apresentamos algumas discussões que integram o projeto de Doutoramento em Estudos Culturais, intitulado “Identidade latino-americana: processos identitários e representações sociais entre latino-americanos migrantes e não migrantes”, o qual tem como objetivo analisar como se configuram os processos identitários de indivíduos latino-americanos a partir das representações sociais e da dinâmica de pertencimento social em contexto latino-americano e em contexto de migração. Para tanto, desenvolvemos uma breve reflexão sobre: a construção das ideias de América Latina e de identidade latino-americana; a Teoria das Representações Sociais; a Teoria da Identidade Social; e as migrações. Argumentamos que a articulação entre estes aportes teórico-conceituais e a análise dos processos de construção identitária associados também a fenômenos migratórios possibilitarão um diálogo interessante no sentido de compreender como se dá a dinâmica de identificação social de indivíduos latino-americanos no tocante a esta “identidade latino-americana”.

In this paper we present some discussions that are part of the Ph.D. project in Cultural Studies, entitled “Latin American Identity: identity processes and social representations among Latin American migrants and nonmigrants”, which aims to analyze how the identity processes of Latin American individuals are configured from the social representations and the social belonging dynamics in the Latin American context and in the context of migration. With this aim, we develop a brief reflection on: the construction of the ideas of Latin America and Latin American identity; the Social Representations Theory; the Social Identity Theory; and migration. We argue that the articulation between these theoretical and conceptual contributions and the analysis of the processes of identity construction also associated with migratory phenomena enable an interesting dialogue in the sense of understanding how the social identification dynamics of Latin American individuals with regard to this “ Latin American identity” unfolds.
