Domestic violence consists of abusive practices that generate harmful narratives in the victims and Narrative Therapy focuses on the deconstruction of these discourses with the promotion of innovative moments. The objective of this study was to understand the process of therapeutic change of eight women victims of domestic violence, during eight sessions of group psychotherapy, based on the analysis of the innovative moments and the therapeutic results that were verified by the application of psychological assessment instruments. Therefore, it is a study with mixed design. The results suggested that, from the intervention, there was a change both in the problematic pattern of narrative, in the reduction of the victimization received and in the clinical symptomatology. Although the progression of IMs over the course of sessions has been similar to studies already conducted in individual psychotherapy contexts, the group format showed some specificities: the potential for proper change of interactions in a group context; the differences in the involvement and oral participation of women in the sessions that influenced the salience of IMs; and the fact that this context can provide the benefit of change only by listening. |
