As potencialidades do espaço exterior para as aprendizagens das crianças

Abstract

O relatório foi elaborado no âmbito da Unidade Curricular de Estágio, integrada no plano de estudos do Mestrado em Educação Pré-Escolar e Ensino do Primeiro Ciclo do Ensino Básico da Universidade do Minho, desenvolvido no contexto de Educação Pré-Escolar num grupo de crianças com idades compreendidas entre os três e os seis anos. A temática “As potencialidades do espaço exterior para as aprendizagens das crianças” surge da observação e escuta atenta do grupo de crianças e dos seus interesses. Era visível, diariamente, o encanto e a admiração de cada uma das crianças pela natureza, na medida que exploravam o espaço exterior e o integravam dentro de portas a partir de simples conversas do quotidiano ou a partir de materiais naturais recolhidos e transportados para a sala. As estratégias de intervenção pedagógica focalizaram as saídas ao exterior para observação direta da natureza, a introdução de novos materiais no espaço exterior, assim como a estimulação do jogo simbólico com materiais naturais e atividades de criação. O projeto foi realizado tendo em conta a metodologia de Investigação-Ação e foi desenvolvido de forma cíclica, envolvendo processos de observação, planeamento, ação, avaliação e reflexão das atividades. As atividades promovidas e os materiais introduzidos a partir dos interesses das crianças tiveram um impacto considerável no seu quotidiano. As crianças passaram a valorizar de forma singular as oportunidades de contacto direto com o exterior e, consequentemente a curiosidade sobre o mundo natural aumentou. O exterior espelhou um local de múltiplas explorações e aprendizagens nos diferentes domínios. Escutar, observar e documentar as ações das crianças permitiu perceber que estas construíram aprendizagens a brincar, na interação com o outro e com a natureza.

The report was prepared within the scope of the Curricular Unit ‘Internship’, integrated in the study plan of the Master's Degree in Pre-School Education and Primary School Education of the University of Minho, developed in a pre-school context with a group of children between three and six years of age. The theme "The potential of outdoor space for the learning of children" comes from the observation and attentive listening of the group of children and their interests. The charm and admiration of each child for nature was visible every day as they explored the outdoor space and integrated it indoors through simple conversations of everyday life or with natural materials collected outside and which they brought into the room. The strategies of pedagogical intervention focused on trips for direct observation of nature, the introduction of new materials in exterior space, as well as the stimulation of symbolic play with natural materials and creative activities. The project was carried out considering the action-research methodology and was developed in a cyclical way, involving observation, planning, action, evaluation and reflection of the activities. The activities promoted and the materials introduced from the interests of the children had a considerable impact on their daily lives. Children have come to value in a unique way the opportunities of direct contact with the outside world and, consequently, the curiosity about the natural world has increased. The outdoor reflected a place of multiple explorations and learning in the different domains. Listening, observing and documenting the actions of the children allowed them to perceive that they can learn while playing in interaction with each other and with nature.
