Uma abordagem à aprendizagem cooperativa como meio promotor de competências sociais e de sucesso escolar

Abstract

Este relatório apresenta o projeto de investigação e intervenção pedagógica, baseado nos pressupostos da investigação-ação e da metodologia de Aprendizagem Cooperativa, desenvolvido em contexto do 1.º ano de escolaridade, do 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico, no decorrer da unidade curricular Estágio (PES – Prática de Ensino Supervisionada), inserido no plano de estudos do Mestrado em Educação Pré-Escolar e Ensino do 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico. Como objetivo principal, com a implementação deste projeto, procuramos perceber qual o impacto que a metodologia de Aprendizagem Cooperativa tem na promoção de competências sociais e no sucesso escolar. Este objetivo principal, que origina as restantes questões de investigação e de intervenção, foi delineado e justificado recorrendo a informações pertinentes recolhidas no contexto educativo, durante o período destinado à observação, integração e conhecimento do mesmo. Neste, observamos sinais representativos da pouca utilização do trabalho de grupo e, consequentemente, manifestações da reduzida sistematização de competências sociais, nomeadamente, competências de cooperação, entreajuda e compreensão e respeito pelos outros e pelas suas ideias, originando momentos de conflitos e de exclusão entre os alunos. De forma a responder aos interesses e às necessidades registadas neste contexto utilizamos alguns métodos de Aprendizagem Cooperativa, sendo que estes são referidos como métodos promotores de competências sociais e de melhoria do sucesso escolar por Freitas e Freitas (2003) e Lopes e Silva (2009), uma vez que esta metodologia é promotara de aprendizagens significativas. É de referir ainda, que para a sustentação das intervenções realizadas construímos um Projeto Curricular Integrado, permitindo articular todas as áreas curriculares, e exigindo por parte dos alunos uma atitude ativa no que concerne à construção do seu conhecimento. Os dados aqui apresentados são sistematizados utilizando estratégias de recolha de dados, maioritariamente de natureza qualitativa. Destas, a principal estratégia utilizada é a observação participante, que nos permitiu recolher a maioria da informação, sendo esta complementada com notas de campo, diários de bordo e fotografias. No que se refere à recolha de dados quantitativos, são utilizadas fichas de autoavaliação de competências sociais e fichas-quizz, possibilitando compreender a evolução dos alunos no que respeita aos elementos essenciais da Aprendizagem Cooperativa e aos efeitos desta na melhoria do sucesso escolar. Apesar deste projeto ter-se desenvolvido num curto período de tempo, os resultados obtidos demonstram que o projeto desenvolvido teve um impacto positivo neste grupo de alunos, no que respeita à aquisição de competências sociais e ao sucesso escolar.

This report presents the research project and pedagogical intervention, based on the presuppositions of action research and Cooperative Learning methodology, developed in the context of the 1st year of schooling, of the 1st cycle of Basic Education, during the course unit (PES - Teaching practice supervised), inserted in the syllabus of the masters in pre-school education and teaching of the 1st cycle of basic education. As a main objective, with the implementation of this project, we try to understand the impact that the Cooperative Learning methodology has on the promotion of social skills and school success. This main objective, which gives rise to the remaining research and intervention issues, has been outlined and justified by using relevant information collected in the educational context during the period for observation, integration and knowledge of the same. Here, we can observe signs of the low utilization of group work and, consequently, manifestations of the reduced systematization of social competences, namely, cooperation skills, mutual help and understanding and respect for others and their ideas, creating moments of conflict and exclusion between the students. In order to respond to the interests and needs recorded in this context we use some Cooperative Learning methods, which are referred to as methods that promote social skills and improve school success by Freitas and Freitas (2003) and Lopes e Silva (2009,) since this methodology promotes significant learning. It is also worth mentioning that for the support of the interventions carried out we built an integrated curricular project, allowing to articulate all the curricular areas, and demanding from the students an active attitude regarding the construction of their knowledge. The data presented here are systematized using data collection strategies, mainly of a qualitative nature. Here, the main strategy used is participant observation, which allowed us to collect most of the information, which was complemented with field notes, logbooks and photographs. With regard to the collection of quantitative data, self-assessment sheets of social competences and quizz-sheets are used, making it possible to understand the evolution of students regarding the essential elements of Cooperative Learning and its effects on improving school success. Although this project has developed in a short period of time, the results show that the project developed had a positive impact on this group of students, regarding the acquisition of social skills and school success.
