Recrutamento M21 – Trompete, e M32 - Conjuntos Vocais e/ou Instrumentais; Orquestra;
This report was written as result of an internship required in Master in Music Education of University of Minho and it reflects a pedagogic intervention performed during the year of 2016/2017, in Conservatory of Music of Porto. The students evaluated were the ones from both M21 (trumpet) and M32 (vocal and instrumental ensembles, choir and chamber music groups) recruitment groups. The aim of this intervention was to evaluate parental involvement in trumpet’s teaching/learning process. Most especially, we tried to find out if the results of parental involvement vary according to the level of musical training of parents. Therefore, were included in this study two students from M21 recruitment group and four students from M32. Regarding the two students of M21 trumpet group, it was developed a student’s notebook in which the student recorded the exercises performed in each study session, the parents signed and the teacher verified their evolution; It was delivered surveys to the students and their parents in order to understand the reality regarding the involvement of the parents with the academic life of their children. For the four students of M32 recruitment group, surveys were also delivered to their parents and the students themselves. Furthermore, the students were asked to perform in two exams, at different times. Beyond this, surveys were filled by the parents of 29 students, from different schools. From all the data collected we were able to conclude that [1] parental involvement is important to student’s success; [2] parental amount of knowledge is not decisive for student’s success, unlike self-motivation, which can be a consequence of parental involvement, from teacher effort, from school or innate motivation. |
