Abstract(s)The research presented in this paper aims to establish criteria for architectural design concentrated on improving the sustainability of housing dwellings through the use of more flexible solutions. A state of the art about the methodologies for flexibility assessment is presented, as well as a proposal for an original methodology developed within this research, focused on the systems of partitioning and furnishing. In order to validate the methodology, designated as Assessment of the Design Flexibility Degree (ADFD), it was applied to several selected case studies which designs are key references from modern architecture. The software Rhinoceros and its "Plug-in" Grasshopper was used in order to simplify the methodology application during the assessment.
