UNIO – EU Law Journal é uma revista eletrónica de livre acesso com arbitragem científica/peer review (blind referee system). Surge no âmbito da Cátedra Jean Monnet intitulada “Citizenship of rights: European citizenship as the fundamental status of nationals of the Member States” e conta com o suporte científico do Centro de Estudos em Direito da União Europeia – CEDU (www.cedu.direito.uminho.pt), Universidade do Minho, Portugal.

UNIO pretende publicar textos de elevada qualidade científica que impulsionem a produção de conhecimento no domínio do direito da União Europeia. UNIO aceita artigos inéditos, apenas em língua inglesa, que não estejam a ser avaliados noutro contexto no momento da submissão. Tratando-se de uma revista eletrónica bilingue (Inglês/Português), e caso o autor assim o deseje, o texto selecionado será publicado em ambos os idiomas, desde que o autor providencie a tradução para a língua portuguesa ou assuma os custos da mesma.

A investigação em direito da União Europeia produzida em língua portuguesa é habitualmente desconhecida fora do país devido à barreira linguística. A maioria dos autores portugueses publica pouco em inglês, tendo dificuldades em aceder aos principais circuitos académicos. Todavia, a produção científica portuguesa no domínio do direito da União Europeia tem excelente qualidade. Sendo uma revista bilingue, UNIO pretende promover e divulgar o trabalho dos investigadores portugueses em língua inglesa, assim como publicar os trabalhos dos cultores do direito da União pelo mundo, sobretudo aqueles produzidos em contextos lusófonos, contribuindo para o desenvolvimento de uma rede científico-académica no domínio do direito da União.

Esta revista, tanto quanto julgamos saber, é a primeira revista bilingue (Inglês/Português) de direito da União Europeia, e uma das primeiras revistas jurídicas portuguesas a seguir os padrões internacionais de credibilidade científica, nomeadamente arbitragem cega (peer-review). Tenciona, portanto, estimular a qualidade da investigação portuguesa em direito da União Europeia, promovendo o intercâmbio de ideias e conhecimento entre estudiosos de várias nacionalidades. Sendo uma revista online de livre acesso, terá muito maior impacto e será certamente uma ferramenta útil para académicos, estudantes e operadores jurídicos.
