Perfil de habilidades motoras finas de crianças com e sem perturbação do espectro do autismo, na zona norte de Portugal: um estudo comparativo

Abstract

A Perturbação do Espectro do Autismo (PEA) constitui uma classe de condições neurodesenvolvimentais caracterizada por dificuldades na comunicação social e pela presença de padrões restritos e repetitivos de comportamentos, interesses e atividades (Harstad et al., 2015). A literatura refere ainda dificuldades nas habilidades motoras finas (Liu & Breslin, 2013). Sugeremse por isso intervenções colaborativas entre pais e profissionais (Anagnostou & Shevell, 2009). A presente investigação, intitulada “Perfil de Habilidades Motoras Finas de crianças com e sem PEA, na zona norte de Portugal: Um estudo comparativo” tem como objetivo geral a avaliação das habilidades motoras finas de crianças com e sem PEA, entre os 5 e os 6 anos, residentes na zona Norte de Portugal. Tem como objetivos específicos: analisar comparativamente o perfil de habilidades motoras finas em crianças com e sem PEA, na faixa etária 5- 6 anos, nas áreas do Controlo Manual Fino e da Coordenação Manual; analisar comparativamente o perfil de habilidades motoras finas em crianças com e sem PEA, na faixa etária 5- 6 anos, tendo por base o género e a idade da criança, bem como o tipo, a frequência e o número de anos em que recebe apoio; analisar comparativamente o perfil de habilidades motoras finas em crianças com e sem PEA, na faixa etária 5- 6 anos, tendo por base as habilitações literárias e profissão dos pais. A metodologia utilizada é de natureza quantitativa-correlacional, com recurso a análise descritiva e inferencial, sendo que foi utilizado como instrumento de avaliação a versão reduzida do teste de proficiência motora de Bruininks-Oserestsky - 2ª edição (Bruininks & Bruininks, 2005). A amostra é constituída por 25 crianças com PEA e por 25 crianças com desenvolvimento típico, residentes na zona norte de Portugal. Os resultados obtidos permitem-nos concluir que existem diferenças no perfil de desenvolvimento das habilidades motoras finas de crianças com e sem PEA, apresentando as crianças sem PEA melhores desempenhos. De uma forma geral, o género da criança, a sua idade e o nível profissional e educacional dos pais não influenciam o desenvolvimento das habilidades motoras finas, de crianças com e sem PEA. Especificamente no caso das crianças com PEA, conseguimos verificar que, de uma forma geral, o tipo, a frequência e o número de anos de apoio recebido também não exercem influência no desenvolvimento destas mesmas habilidades.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a class of neurodevelopmental conditions characterized by difficulties in social communication and the presence of restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior, interests and activities (Harstad et al., 2015). The literature also notes difficulties in fine motor skills (Liu & Breslin, 2013). Collaborative intervention activities between parents and professionals are recommended (Anagnostou & Shevell, 2009). This research, called "Profile of Fine Motor Skills for children with and without ASD, in the north of Portugal: A comparative study", has the general objective: the evaluation of fine motor skills children with and without ASD, between 5 and 6 years old, living in northern Portugal area. Has as specific objectives: to comparatively analyze the profile of fine motor skills in children with and without ASD, aged 5- 6 years in the areas of Fine Manual Control and Coordination Manual; comparatively analyze the profile of fine motor skills in children with and without ASD, aged 5- 6 years, based on gender and age of the child, as well as the type, frequency and the number of years that receive support; and comparatively analyze the profile of fine motor skills in children with and without ASD, aged 5- 6 years, based on the educational and profession of parents. The methodology nature used in this study is quantitative-correlational, using descriptive and inferential analysis, and was used as an assessment instrument the reduced version of the proficiency test Bruininks-Oserestsky - 2nd edition (Bruininks & Bruininks, 2005). The sample consists of 25 children with ASD and 25 typically developing residents in the North of Portugal. The results allow us to conclude that there are differences in the development profile of the fine motor skills of children with and without ASD, presenting the children without ASD best performances. In general, the child's gender, their age and professional and educational level of parents do not influence the development of fine motor skills of children with and without ASD. Specifically in the case of children with ASD, we found that, in general, the type, frequency and the number of years of support received also did not influence the development of these same skills.
