A língua inglesa como atividade de enriquecimento curricular no 1º ciclo do ensino básico: impacto(s) no(s) (in)sucesso(s) dos alunos

Abstract

O presente estudo que incide sobre a língua inglesa como atividade de enriquecimento curricular no 1.ºciclo do ensino básico tem como objetivo analisar, descrever e interpretar o impacto da língua inglesa nas AEC e no (in)sucesso dos alunos, caraterizando as expetativas dos docentes acerca deste impacto, analisar articulação entre as áreas curriculares disciplinares e a disciplina da língua inglesa, analisar o papel da língua inglesa na formação global do aluno, entre outros. Trata-se de um trabalho inicialmente desenvolvido sob a orientação do Doutor João Menelau Paraskeva tendo sido substancialmente alterado, sendo uma abordagem qualitativa e conta com a realização de onze entrevistas a docentes de AEC de quatro escolas, designadamente EB2/3 de Fermentões, de Ferreiros, de Celeirós e Lamaçães. Os dados obtidos através da realização destas entrevistas foram objeto de análise de conteúdo. Através desta análise foi possível concluir que o ensino do inglês como AEC apresenta-se como uma ferramenta poderosa no processo de aquisição de competências, permitindo trabalhar de forma lúdica, natural e agradável. Permitiu também compreender a importância que o inglês representa nas escolas de Portugal, constatar-se a existência da necessidade de um aperfeiçoamento na área da atividade que envolve o inglês, para que os alunos evoluam nas suas competências básicas. Quanto aos objetivos que se propuseram a atingir com este estudo foram atingidos, visto que a amostra em estudo revelou a necessidade de refletir sobre a importância do papel do inglês no desenvolvimento de capacidades nesta área, na transdisciplinaridade, na necessidade social do quotidiano e na forma como este está a ser implementado no 1º CEB em Portugal. Foram, também, detetadas algumas lacunas nomeadamente no que respeita à impossibilidade de se generalizar o caso em análise para todas as escolas. Existem dois fatores determinantes para esta situação: o primeiro, por se tratar de um estudo em apenas quatro escolas; e o segundo, pela especificidade do tema de pesquisa. Utilizou-se uma metodologia de investigação qualitativa, porém, a inexistência de literatura com instrumentos sistematizados sobre o objeto de estudo, levou à sua elaboração que apresenta algumas fragilidades.

This study focuses on the English language as curriculum enrichment activity at 1. This is a study initialy developed under the direction of Doctor João Menelau Paraskeva, having been sustantially amended and is a qualitative approach and relies on the achievement of eleven interviews with teachers AEC's four schools, namely EB2/3 of Fermentões, of Ferreiros, of Celeirós and Lamaçães. The data obtained from these interviews were analyzed for content. Through this analysis it was concluded that the teaching of English as AEC presents itself as a powerful tool in the process of acquiring skills, allowing you to work in a fun, natural and enjoyable. Allowed also understand the importance that English represents schools from Portugal, noted the existence of the need for improvement in the area of activity involving the English, so that students evolve in their basic skills. As for the objectives they set out to achieve with this study were achieved, since the sample under study revealed the importance of the role of English in developing capabilities in this area, transdisciplinarity and social necessity of everyday life. Were also detected some shortcomings particularly with regard to the inability to generalize to the case at all schools. There are two factors for this situation: first, because it is a study in just three schools, and the second, by the specificity of the research topic. We used a qualitative research methodology, however, the lack of literature with instruments on the subject of systematic study, which led to its drafting has some weaknesses.
