Acidentes escolares nos agrupamentos de escolas de Braga entre 1998 e 2003

Abstract

Com o presente estudo pretendeu-se quantificar os acidentes ocorridos nos Agrupamentos de Escolas do Concelho de Braga, tanto com os alunos como com os respectivos professores e restantes agentes educativos, no último quinquénio (1998/2003), tendo em conta a tipologia, os Ciclos (1°, 2° e 3°) com maior número de casos e o local de ocorrência desses acidentes. Neste contexto e, centrado nos acidentes ocorridos com todos os agentes educativos envolvidos, foi desenvolvido um estudo, cuja metodologia privilegiou a elaboração de um inquérito dirigido aos Presidentes dos Conselhos Executivos dos Agrupamentos de Escolas de Braga ou aos responsáveis pela área da segurança, por esta ordem de preferência, em simultâneo com a recolha de dados respeitantes aos acidentes ocorridos nos mesmos Agrupamentos de Escolas. Os resultados referentes à aplicação dos questionários, sobre Saúde e Segurança no Trabalho, a cada um dos Agrupamentos demonstra que: Há necessidade de promover o acervo jurídico-normativo sobre SST; É necessário incrementar a formação no âmbito da SST; Existem dúvidas na aplicação das normas de SST. Os resultados referentes à inquirição sobre os acidentes mostram que: O Agrupamento 1 é o que apresenta maior número de acidentes, em cinco anos lectivos (e o que possui maior número de alunos); Não existe uma relação directa entre o número total de acidentes e o número total de alunos por Agrupamento; A queda é o tipo de acidente com maior número de ocorrências e a queimadura/intoxicação a de menor frequência. Deste estudo resulta que o número total de acidentes ocorridos anualmente, nos Agrupamentos de Escolas de Braga ainda é demasiadamente elevado e é, portanto, indispensável a implementação de boas práticas de SST. Por este motivo apresentam-se algumas Medidas de Prevenção a Implementar, como forma de minimizar este tipo de acidentes.

With the present study we pretend to quantify accidents which happened within schools in the Braga district, being accidents which involved students, respective teachers and any other support staff, during the last five years from 1998 to 2003. We took into account the typology of the cycles with a greater number of cases and areas where these accidents occurred. In this context and centering on the accidents which involved the whole teaching staff, a study was developed where the methology privileged the elaboration of a questionnaire for the presidents of the school boards of Braga school groups or people responsible for the safety of the area, and in this order of preference, simultaneously with the gathering of information on accidents which happened in the same school groups. The results were taken from the questionnaires on Health and Safety at Work (SST), each of the groups have shown that: There is a need to promote a lot of judicial normative on Health and Safety at Work; It is necessary to introduce personal development in the area of Health and Safety at Work; There are doubts on the application of the Health and Safety norms; The results taken from inquiries on accidents have shown that: School group 1 presents the highest number of accidents, during five school years (and with the highest number of students); There is no direct relation between the total number of accidents and the total number of students per school group; Failing is the type of accident with the highest number of occurrences and burns/ food poisoning the less frequent. The result of this study is that the total number of accidents that have happened annually in the Braga school groups is still too high and as thus it is important to implement the good practise of Health and Safety at Work. For this motive some measures for prevention are implemented, as a form of minimizing these types of accidents.
