Creativity is assumed, increasingly, as a highly relevant expertise in all domains of society, especially in education. Portugal crossing a critical period to socio-economic level becomes critical conceive how school contexts with different social characteristics (public and private schools) influence perceptions of creativity and creative climate, either by students or teachers. In the present study, we sought to adapt two instruments for assessing creativity in Portuguese educational context and at the same time check if there are significant differences in the representations of the concepts of creativity, student, teacher and creative climate, as well as on favorable and unfavorable creativity in the workplace, by teachers from public and private schools, and differences in representations of creative climate in the classroom from students of the same types of schools. Is was used a sample of 202 students in the 3rd and 4th grades of basic school, as well as 72 teachers of this school level in public and private schools. Data were collected through Scale Climate for Creativity in the Classroom (Fleith & Alencar, 2005) in the case of students; in the case of teachers, the School Creativity and Scale - perceptions of teachers (Morais & Azevedo, 2011) and the Questionnaire Indicators of Climate for Creativity in the Workplace (Bruno Faria & Veiga, in press) were used. Results show, for the students, statistically significant differences in the parameters of the Teacher Support the Expression of Ideas, Student's Interest for Learning and Student Autonomy, presenting public school higher values compared to private schools. In the case of teachers, emerged statistically significant differences in the parameters Availability and Adequacy of Material Resources and Organizational, having a higher value teachers from private schools, and in the parameter Blocks to Creativity in which the scores of public school teachers is higher compared to private schools. Teachers from private schools also showed higher values in relation to curiosity taking the concept of creative personality.
