O progressivo no português europeu de hoje: expressão, combinatória e variação

Abstract

Com este trabalho, pretende-se, com base numa amostragem de material linguístico autêntico (as fontes são, predominantemente, a imprensa escrita e textos literários), perseguindo as preferências ou tendências, por um lado, revelar/descrever a combinatória sintáctico-semântica (com que tipos proposicionais e respectivas formas co-ocorrem, tipos de sujeito e sua quantificação, número e natureza dos argumentos e respectiva configuração sintáctica) e semântico-lexical (com que tipos aspectuais de predicados verbais se combinam - 'estativos', 'de processo', 'de processo culminado', 'de culminação', 'pontuais'- e respectivas implicações significativas) das perífrases verbais de 'progressivo' (<estar a + infinitivo> e <estar + gerúndio>) no PE actual e, por outro, averiguar da sua variação.

With this research, based on a sample of authentic linguistic material (mostly taken from the written press and from literary texts), following the preferences or tendencies, I pretend to, on the one hand, reveal/describe the syntactic-semantic combinatorics (the propositional types and respective forms they co-occur with, types of subjects and their quantification, number and nature of the arguments and their syntactic configuration) and the semantic-lexical combinatorics (what aspectual types of verbal predicates they combine with - 'state verbs', 'process verbs', 'culminated process verbs', 'culmination verbs' or 'point verbs' - and their significant implications) of the 'progressive' (<estar a + infinitive> and <estar + gerund>) in present-day European Portuguese and, on the other hand, identify/determine their variation.
