dc.description.abstractIn this paper, an attempt is made to offer a simplified and comprehensive wear model, under a general point of view and under the framework of the dynamics of multibody mechanical systems formulation. The wear simulation is based on the generalized Archard’s wear model, which relates the volume of material loss with physical and geometrical properties of the contacting bodies, such as the contact load, sliding distance and material properties. Furthermore, an elementary planar four bar mechanism is used as an application example, in order to quantify the level of wear in a revolute clearance joint.por
